Your LAC or Plan Manager may need to check that this pack is 'reasonable and necessary' for your child and their goals.

This pack meets the 'reasonable and necessary' criteria by

  • promoting independence
  • supporting therapy outcomes
  • improving functional capacity
  • being adaptable to individual needs
  • offering a cost-effective solution for families with children with Autism.

1. Promotes Independence and Skill Development

The pack focuses on fine motor skills, emotional regulation, and sensory regulation, which are essential developmental areas for children with Autism. These skills directly contribute to a child’s ability to perform daily tasks independently, which aligns with the NDIA’s goal of fostering independence.

2. Supports Therapy Recommendations

The bundle helps implement strategies recommended by speech therapists and occupational therapists, such as sensory regulation and fine motor coordination exercises. These resources complement and reinforce therapy sessions, allowing children to continue practicing these skills at home, which is critical for maintaining and building on therapeutic progress.

3. Improves Functional Outcomes

By addressing core challenges children with Autism often face—such as difficulties with emotional regulation and fine motor skills—this pack aims to improve the child’s ability to function better in everyday settings, including home, school, and social environments. This aligns with the NDIS’s focus on improving functional capacity and participation in daily life.

4. Customisable for Individual Needs

The resources can be tailored to a child’s specific strengths and areas for growth, making them an ideal fit for a wide range of developmental stages. This customization ensures that the supports are individualized and relevant to the child’s goals, another key factor in NDIA's assessment of "reasonable and necessary."

5. Cost-Effective Support

This bundle provides a comprehensive range of tools and training in one package, making it a cost-effective way to implement a variety of therapeutic strategies at home. The NDIA considers cost-effectiveness when determining if supports are "reasonable and necessary," and this resource offers multiple benefits at a relatively low cost compared to ongoing therapy sessions alone.
